PROFESSIONAL PRACTICE TALKS & ART TOURS - UNIVERSITIES
|TOURS & TALKS FOR UNIVERSITIES
Tilley and Davis have designed four exceptional professional practice talks to help graduating artists navigate the difficult transition between education and making a career as an artist. They are designed to give students a head start in understanding that an art career is about persistence: thinking intelligently and finding clever ways to bring your work to the attention of others.
The A-Z of Surviving as an Artist after Art School
"Inspiring, practical and entertaining." - Sam Hodge
This talk is packed with vital information designed to give students and recent graduates a head start in understanding how to market themselves, create networks, raise their profile and get their work seen. It covers everything from curators, collectors and the gallery system to business cards, exhibitions, teaching, tweeting, newsletters, websites, portfolio careers and balancing it all. And raises important questions like: Should I work for free? and How do I bring my work to the attention of others?
Four specialised talks that expand in detail on many of the subjects raised in the more general A-Z talk:

ZAP Student ART Tours
are aimed at introducing fine art students to the diverse gallery models in different areas of London - commercial, artist-led and public galleries - and to give insights into how these galleries operate and select their artists. It is by gaining this insight that students and graduates will grasp, early on, the resilience needed to develop a sustainable practice.
