Digital Culture: Series II
, digital image, 2015
Despite a long list of academic awards, Richert has been unable to win the acceptance or recognition of his peers and this situation has now deteriorated into a deep sense of frustration and injustice. Recently, these frustrations boiled over into an unfortunate incident at one of London's most prominent art venues and the repercussions have only served to isolate him further from the wider artistic community. In response, Richert has abandoned any search for truth or authenticity and now occupies herself entirely with their antitheses, ascribing this volte-face to 'binary oppositions,' - those fundamental building blocks of language and culture and language again.
John Richert was eventually awarded an MFA by Goldsmiths College in 2013 following an administrative error. Recent shows include 'Throw Caution to the Wind', Fabled Gallery; 'Lies, Damned Lies and Aesthetics,' Studio Feigning; and 'Revenge of the Riff-Raff,' at the London Institute of Urban Mythology. Also, the Zeitgeist Open 2014, London.
