Fiona Masterton is interested in the relationship between painting and photography, the authorial and the mechanical, reality and imagination. From these investigations she develops patterns and rhythms in processes and marks made digitally, which are emulated or embellished with paint to create numerous points of departure. These departures often depict a sense of an alternative place, ultimately conveying a sense of flux between abstraction and figuration, painting and digital technology.
Fiona Masterton graduated in 2014 with a BA (Hons) in Fine Art Painting from Wimbledon College of Arts. A regular blogger on a-n, Masterton featured as the cover artist and was interviewed for a-n's Degree Shows Guide 2014
. That same year she was nominated for Saatchi New Sensations, and in 2015 was selected for Made in Arts London in addition to winning the Cass 2015 Material Arts Bursary. Since graduating, Masterton has exhibited at the Affordable Art Fair in Hampstead and in 'Capsule' at The Embassy Tea Gallery.
