Helen Latham is interested in the current state of figurative painting, in particular its relationship with the human condition and digital technology. Working from photographs and images extracted from the Internet, Latham paints groups of people, trees and animals communicating different narratives or emotions – joy, belonging, a sense of community or alienation – perhaps emulating aspects of our complex and sometimes superficial culture.
Helen Latham is currently in her final year of the Painting Correspondence Course at Turps Banana Art School. She recently exhibited in 'Correspond' at The Daniel Libeskind Space in London. Previous shows include '100% Nude', Guerilla Galleries, Shoreditch; 'Michaelmas', Williams Art, Cambridge, (2013); and Parallax Art Fair in Chelsea (2012).
